Calendar shipped!

Happy Friday!

My sister MJ called, she received my surprise package yesterday so I can finally post the pictures.

I've been dying to post about it, but I didn't want to spoil the surprise. I decided that the calendar would be perfect for her little girl's room. They just moved into a new house and was lacking wall accessories, so it was a perfect House Warming/Christmas/Happy Birthday Anastasia combo gift!

Each month represents a holiday/event (e.g., New Year's, Mother's Day, First day of Spring, Back to School)

I suggested buying 12 of these shadow boxes. It's a perfect size, cheap and would look great in a kids room. She could even paint them if she was feeling up to it.

December and July are my favorites.

I wish I had more than one set, but it honestly took so long to finish - I'm still thinking of ways to stream line the process for 2009 =)

Anyway, I have lots of knitting to do today so you won't be hearing anymore from me today. Have a nice weekend! AND don't forget to check out the site on Sunday - I'm aiming to have the scarves up for sale (fingers crossed)!

Handmade Calendar Update

Woohooo... two more months of the handmade calendar completed!!

One last post for the day - today is a "workshop" day, so I'm banning my laptop and I'll be concentrating on my current craft projects. I'll be working on May today - focusing on Mother's Day. My favorite part is coming up with the design for each month.

October: Halloween

Believe it or not, it was the "assistant to the crafter" ;-) who came up with the idea of adding the white wool cob-web trail strands for October - great idea Hillsy!

June: First day of Summer

Parts of June mysteriously vanished. I had a faux-blanket and tiny sunglasses made out of black felt by the umbrella. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to sew it down yet and they probably blew off while I was cleaning up! I might add some details like that once I'm done with all of the months.

Have a nice day everybody!

Handmade Calendar

I'm so excited to share my latest project...

It's a handmade calendar made out of wool felt, different fabric scraps and hand embroidery. The actual calendar lines are done with a machine. I've completed four months so far. Each month hangs separately and can be framed afterwards. It's a slow project but I'm so happy with how it's turning out. Sometimes, I get so frustrated because what I set out to do isn't exactly what I end up with and never sees the light of day - but this one is definitely going well.

February: Valentines Day

November: Thanksgiving (turkey leg and cranberries)

April: Earth Day

March: First day of Spring

I'm hoping to get more than one set done, but unless I strap myself to my craft chair 24/7 or hire little santa elves - I'm not sure it's going to happen (at least before January 2008). Unless, my crafter-in-crime decides to hop on board and help me ;-)

Gotta go and work on the next month!
