Janie's Pound Cake

My sweet sister MJ from Texas sent me a cake for my birthday! Apparently, Janie's Cakes is all the buzz down in Tyler, Texas. All the cakes are made from scratch. "No mixes. No artificial ingredients. No preservatives. No short cuts. Each and every cake is carefully mixed and baked by hand to create the finest pound cake in the world. " They ship anywhere in the US - 2nd day delivery available. And just look at the packaging, how sweet is that - talk about southern hospitality.

I got the Italian Jane Special - their best selling Specialty Pound Cake. It’s a Plain Jane pound cake with a generous dollop of their homemade Italian cream sauce in the center hole of the cake topped off with bits of fresh roasted Texas pecans.

MMMmmMMMmmmMMMmmmMMmmmMMMM (in my best Paula Dean drawl). This stuff is good. Nothing like a pound of butter and another pound or so on top with a healthy dose of roasted pecans. The cake on its own packs a punch, a solid pound cake with a bottom layer of sugary goodness. Not sure how they do it, but it's almost like there's a 1/4" layer of brown sugar at the very bottom. Ta ta ta ta ta ... I'm lovin it =)
