Homemade Truffles + Roses

making chocolate truffles for Hillsy

I surprised Hillsy with a box of handmade truffles.
Lucky for me he had meetings in the city all day so I had time to dust off my chocolate books and find my favorite recipes.

He surprised me with beautiful flowers (that smell as heavenly as they look) and the complete DVD set of Felicity - you don't understand, I used to lOOOooove this show back in college. I'm so excited and cannot wait to have my Felicity marathon.

By the way, I think it's important to point out that I'm not a huge Valentines Day fan, that goes for New Year's as well. I think it's the pressure to do something on these days that I hate, it makes you feel like you're somehow less romantic, less fun, just plain less. The truffles were a last minute thing, I succumbed to the pressure and felt bad that I hadn't planned anything cool. Bad wife. Eh. I'm sure the little one will change all this when we start crafting cute little Valentine cards and goodies for school. There is hope.
