The Joys of Home-ownership

Hmmm. Look what Hillsy and I discovered as we were backing out of the driveway yesterday...

So I guess we had a leak huh?
Any suggestions? So far we've tried melting it with hot water, salting, next up we have the chiseling technique where I'll be attempting to chisel a lovely swan :)

Hmmmm mar, this looks scary... some peeps say a lot of good stuff to avoid this: http://www.statefarm.com/learning/loss_prevent/learning_lossprevention_frozpipes.asp

On the what to do afterwards, use a hairdryer. Is that the best solution specialists couls really come up with?? It may cause you a whole month of electricity bill and the world a whole section of the amazonian forest to get this one to melt though...

yikes I hope you haven't busted a pipe inside your wall that is a big nono as this can cause real bad damage toa house. But you probably already know this.

My dad hangs one of those outdoor work lamps that connect to an extension cord and hangs them close to frozen pipes or the frozen car battery when it doesn't start. Works like a charm, but it takes time.

hi guys, so it looks like the pipe is alright... at least we thing so. Hillsy sawed off the ice :) then melted the rest closer to the faucet and was able to turn on the faucet. Thanks for all of your comments...we'll be keeping an eye out on this one!!!

Sammi/MJ, looks like we'll take some time out to properly drain out the faucet this weekend :)
