Fighting Time

It's been tugging at me for about 2 years now but I've managed to ignore it... until this weekend. WRINKLES.

In my teens I used Johnson's Baby Oil as my "sun protection". Late teens, I made a switch to Hawaiian Tropics Bronzing Lotion 2 SPF. In my 20s I noticed that my skin was starting to burn in the sun (never happened before) so I switched to 15 SPF. In my late 20s I developed a weird allergy to the sun - I called it the "Day 2" allergy. My skin is ok if I sit out all day in the sun (protected) for one day, but if I attempt to lay out for a second day, forget it - my skin goes nuts! We're talking red rashes and tiny tiny blisters - not a pretty sight.

So now that I'm in my "30s" (31) I use the highest SPF that I can get my hands on and you can be sure that I'm always under a beach umbrella - at least 95% of the time.

Anyway, I never believed in the whole anti-aging and anti-wrinkle cream, wash, lotion or serum thing... until of course Zandra brings it up. I'm still not fully convinced that a cream can help prevent wrinkles or fight the signs of aging but I guess it couldn't hurt to give it a try? Right? I've been blessed with oily skin (I guess it's the silver lining to adolescent acne issues) and I haven't noticed any lines just yet. So if there's a right time to fight mama nature, I guess it would be now before it's too late - tah tah tah! I thought I'd start off slow and buy something from the drugstore instead of breaking the bank with a La Mer purchase. I chose Olay's Age Defying anti-wrinkle replenishing night cream - saying that 10 times will give you crow's feet so be careful. I chose Olay because I clearly remember my mom using it, along with her mega tub of Ponds Cold Cream. Marketers take note.

My mom just turned 74 a month ago and her skin still looks good - so I'll have what she's having!

I'll let you know how it goes.

** I just found this very interesting article Skin cream science is branded as ‘waffle’.

interesting!! I've never used an anti wrinkle cream.. I guess i'm scared of the side effects of the ingredients that are in those creams!! I've only used sun protecting lotion eversince i can remember. No wrinles yet so far.... i still look in my 20's LOL!! The trick is less is best!!!

That must be a Filipina thing because my mom has a huge tub of Ponds Cold Cream!!! She's 69 and has pretty good skin too! Flips are blessed, I think ;)

The difference is - my mother refuses to lay out in the sun. We're talking umbrella in the sun and I'm not referring to a beach umbrella. I was so embarrassed when she used to walk me to school during the summer time. But look who's laughing now =)

Wow! How beautiful is your mom Marichelle?! Not that I am surprised, as you are too. Your Dad looks so handsome too(what I can see of him), they both have killer cheekbones! Yowza, so lucky!
