I bought this dress from Target a week ago and I should've bought more of them coz I'm so in love with it - it's available in this color (sort of like a brownish/aubergine), black and white. I went back on Saturday and there were none left AND it's not online.

Friends & sisters, if you spot them at your local store give me a shout please!! Hook a girl up (this color <<---- thx Karen!!!! or black in XS), I'll pay you back! The dress has a built in second layer tank-dress inside so it's not see-through. Two pockets. Oh and it's got pintuck detailing at the bib. I believe they were $19.99$24.99.

Hillsy's parents have been cleaning our house since they arrived. I've never seen anything quite like it - The Joy of Cleaning? They really really really enjoy it. Good thing I'm not exactly particular when it comes to cleaning... bring it on I say bring it on!!!

Impressive pain threshold

So I've been regularly icing my shins and calves post run - noticed that my muscles were starting to get really sore and prohibiting me from improving my speed/mileage. Anyway, I'm not sure if it's because I was so darn mesmerized by the SYTYCD routines or I'm just totally oblivious to pain. At the time, I didn't feel any pain until...

I was laying in bed the other night and noticed a slight burning feeling in the back of my leg. I figured it was probably from the ice pack, but didn't realize how badly I burned myself from the freezing icepack until I saw this...

Enough Already!

It's been raining since Monday, this is nuts! Sorry I was missing in action yesterday, I was cleaning ALL day long and I have one more room to go.

My poor flowers are all wilting away but I know a couple of guys that are really enjoying all this water!!

Fuzzy Mo

I'm obsessed with making Mojitos - that's what happens when you have an unlimited amount of mint growing in a box! Anyway, I had some overly riped peaches hanging around so I decided to make Peach Mojitos.... mmmmm so good!

Just replace watermelon with (1/2 of a peach).

Weekend Eats

I had a busy, but fun-filled weekend.

Saturday: Breakfast at Thé Adoré then we split up and Hillsy went to go get a haircut and I headed over to Brooklyn (craft renegade).

We're addicted to pizza from Arturo's (Maplewood). It's so freakin' good, I can't stop!!! (We've had it three nights in a row.)

Sunday: Back to Brooklyn for a blogger boondoggle aka Chicknic. Lots of yummy food and good company.

I got home in the afternoon and had time to tend to the garden. Look how our fruit trees are coming along...


The arugula is going ballistic. So amazing to be able to just pick and eat! Arugula and summer berry salad. Strawberries go so well with balsamic vinegar, also added some mozzarella cheese. Mmmm.

Been busy and I haven't been able to update the shop as often as I'd like. I'm currently working on these words, you can see a few more pics on Heart Handmade today.

I'm such an overachiever today, went out running with Hillsy at 5:30am. I know! AND I'm actually showered before 9am - dear lord it's a miracle! (pat, pat, pat)

Filipino Sweet Meat

... that's a Hillsy term, which comes from....

A. Filipinos love their sweet meat. E.g., traditional BBQ, Tocino (cured meat), Longanisa (sausage) - all sweet!

B. Mosquitos freakin' LOOOOOOVE me. I'm flattered. Really I am, but please microvamps, enough is enough! We'd be sitting outside in the yard and for some reason, I'm the only one who gets eaten up alive. His excuse? Filipino sweet meat!


He's been on the mosquito case for a while now, looking for the best solution. Last year, we couldn't even sit outside nor open the back door - they'd come flying in and I'd get eaten up while sitting on the couch. It was ridiculous.

I'm happy to report that he's found what seems to be the best (affordable) space and personal repellent available in the market. OFF!® PowerPad® Lamp and Lantern and the OFF!® Clip-On™

I love my little fan, I've been wearing it (easily clips on to waist or pockets) while gardening and watering plants and so far so good. It'll be coming along with me to every BBQ we get invited to this year! The jury is still out - I'm a tiny bit weary since the mosquitos are not out in full force yet, but I shall try to remain hopeful...

Saving Grace

This weekend was a bit tricky. Thank goodness for this...


Need: Limes, Rum, fresh mint, simple syrup (boil water, mix in 2 parts sugar one part water, infuse with mint leaves, cool), sugar, club soda, watermelon (optional) , ice


I like mine really sour so you may have to adjust amount of lime.

1. Mash up 3 -4 slices of lime + small handful of mint leaves + pinch of sugar (cubes of watermelon if you'd like).
2. Stir in 2 tbs of simple syrup
3. Drop in a shot of rum
4. Add ice, stir
5. Top off with club soda, gently stir

Other versions to try (in place of watermelon):
- cucumber + hot cayenne pepper (or tobasco I guess would work too)
- mango
- raspberries
